24th of November 2017 – The President of the Foundation took part in the International Conference “Diplomacia Económica na Europa do Sul: Doutrinas, Agentes, Percursos (Século XIX-XX)” [Southern Europe Economic Diplomacy: Doctrines, Agents, Routes (XIX-XX Century)]

Dr. José Miguel de Carvalho Cerqueira, the President of the Foundation, made a presentation at the International Conference “Diplomacia Económica na Europa do Sul: Doutrinas, Agentes, Percursos (Século XIX-XX)” [Southern Europe Economic Diplomacy: Doctrines, Agents, Routes (XIX-XX Century)], organized by the Instituto de História Contemporânea of the NOVA School of Social Sciences and Humanities of the Universidade NOVA de Lisboa, together with the European Commission, the School of Arts and Humanities of the Lisbon University, the Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia (Portuguese Foundation for the Science and Technology) and the Imprensa Nacional-Casa da Moeda (Portuguese National Press). The presentation was entitled “A Diplomacia Económica Colonial de Portugal em África. Moçambique/Malawi, 1963/74” (The Portuguese Colonial Economic Diplomacy in Africa. Mozambique/Malawi, 1963/74) and it took place on the 24th of November 2017.

The objective of this conference was to approach, in an historical perspective, the multiple dimensions of the Southern Europe’s case as a peripheral economy and, as well, the problematic of its insertion on the diplomatic economic affairs.
